Meet our Panel Speakers
Moira WEitz, MS, ARNP, CNM, CPM, IBCLC
Moira is the owner of Rooted In Love Midwifery. She has 24+ years of experience as a home birth midwife as well as hospital experience from when she worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse years ago.
She is honored to be a part of each family’s birth journey. Working as a midwife and giving birth to seven children at home, has given her the insight to support women in the childbearing years and she recognizes the strength that all women possess. She loves helping mamas and babies maximize their breastfeeding experience through her IBCLC training and experience. As an herbalist for over 30 years, she enjoys helping women of all ages on their path toward optimal health.
When not homeschooling her children, watching babies be born, and running a household, she enjoys gardening, making herbal preparations, camping, knitting, pickle ball and hosting meals.
Stephen Pedron, MD, MBA
Stephen Pedron, MD, MBA is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in MFM and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, served his Obstetrics & Gynecology residency in Phoenix, his MFM subspecialty training at the University of Wisconsin, and earned his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He lives and works as a hi-risk OB subspecialist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dr. Pedron regularly delivers instructional seminars to working groups, on expert panels, and at conferences. He has taught and rendered care during missions work in Haiti and China. His other passions include family, travel, cooking, racing (anything that uses motive force), and minding after the forest. Dr. Pedron has a gaggle of children and grandchildren.
Chloe Hartnett, Birth Doula
Chloe is a birth doula, wife, and mother. After the birth of her first baby, she became passionate about the power of education and support to help women birth with confidence. She founded Beloved Birth Doula Care to help every woman feel empowered to have the birth she desires. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence based care to her clients. Chloe believes every woman deserves to feel informed and supported through every stage of motherhood.
Miranda Mendoza, LM, LCPM, CPM
Miranda Mendoza, is the owner and founder of Foundations Midwifery, serving families throughout the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. As a midwife, Miranda is passionate about providing evidence-based, culturally respectful care while honoring the individual needs, values, and choices of each family. She believes every person deserves the right to choose the safest place for them to birth.
As a Latina midwife and, to her knowledge, currently the only Latina CPM practicing in Iowa, Miranda is especially passionate about increasing representation and expanding access to respectful, inclusive maternity care. Outside of midwifery, she is a mother of five and enjoys traveling, learning, and homeschooling her kids. Through Foundations Midwifery, she strives to bring together the ancient art of midwifery with the knowledge and scope of modern practice.
